Over 60 per cent of small businesses are planning to increase their investment in IT and their websites this year, according to research from PeoplePerHour.com, a marketplace for freelance professionals. The research also found that the majority of them were planning to increase their dependency on IT freelancers.

Having read the recommendations from PeoplePerHour, that small businesses should have an IT specialist in-house and back-up that expertise with freelancers, I think they must be talking about the larger small business rather than the micro end of small that I am more used to.
While the term freelancer tends to make one think of a single person you can, of course, back up your in-house knowledge by using another micro firm such as LTConsulting or WSI Northampton for helping with building/re-building websites and getting the most out of them or Hallam Business for training in Internet marketing so that you can do it yourself.
Louise, Tracy and Susan are people I have worked with or trained with in the past and can recommend personally – that’s not to say that there aren’t others out there doing similar jobs (I know there are).
